About the Instructor
Lauren Fire is a California attorney that understands how mentally exhausting the bar exam experience can be and how it feels to face panic and anxiety during an exam. She spent years fighting the perfectionism and strong inner criticism that lead many legal professionals to anxiety and performance issues. Instead of accepting it, she turned her legal research skills inward and began studying mindfulness, meditation, somatic practices, feldenkrais, and psychology, looking for answers.
After years of study, she learned how to conquer the negative thoughts and emotions that interfered with her performance. She learned how to calm her body to rid herself of anxiety, and how to train her mind and body to focus under pressure. Using many of the techniques taught in the Mind Over Bar course, Lauren passed the California bar on her first attempt. She created the course because she believed that bar study could be easier and less painful with basic mind and body practices.
Lauren has been studying psychology and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) for over 10 years. Lauren completed over 500 course and coaching hours to graduate from the Transformational Coaching and Leadership Training program (TCLT) in San Francisco. Lauren has studied at the Spirit Rock Meditation Center and the UCSF Osher Center for Integrative Medicine and has learned from nationally recognized instructors like Jon Kabat-Zinn and Jack Kornfield.
Lauren Fire is not a psychologist or therapist. She is an attorney who studied for years to develop a set of practical tools that helped her, and can help other individuals challenge and beat the test anxiety and performance challenges that she conquered.
Before creating Mind Over Bar, Lauren worked in large law firms and as in house counsel. Lauren currently lives in San Francisco with her husband and two cats.
